Father’s Day is coming up, and we all know how hard it is to think of something to give Dad. I came up with a fun Father’s Day craft to make for the handy dad who likes to work with tools. It’s a tie tack that is made from an actual screw! Kinda cool because it looks like there’s a screw going through the tie. If you’ve got the right power tool (or know someone who does) these are really cheap and easy to make as well. A great gift for Dad or Grandpa!
- blank tie tack
- Dremel Tool
- strong glue
Use the Dremel Tool to cut the head off the screw. This will create some heat and sparks, so be sure to use the proper skin and eye protection. Also make sure there is nothing flammable around. I recommend putting the base of the screw in a clamp while cutting.
Put the screw head, top down, on the table and put some glue on it. Take the back off of the tie tack and push the tack into the glue. If the back of your screw is a little uneven, just do your best to help it stay straight. Once it has dried a bit, you can adjust it a little, and add more glue around it with a toothpick.
