New Year Cake Topper Has Serious Wow Factor

Jazz up your New Years Eve with an easy-to-cut cake topper. Pair it with some glitzy glitter paper, and you have serious “wow-factor” for your celebration!

Skills Required: Beginner. You are either going to cut your cake decoration with a cutting machine or by hand with a craft knife. So you need to know how to use either one of those things depending on the method you choose.

Hi, friends! Ready for a new year with all the goals and resolutions that come with it?? Yeah, I’d rather just thrown a party and eat cake too. 😉 No matter what the holiday, I’m always ready for dessert. That’s just how I roll.

I thought it would be fun to share a really fun way to jazz up your New Year’s Eve using an easy-to-cut cake topper. Pair it with some glitzy glitter paper, and you have some serious “wow factor” for your New Year’s Eve soiree.

Happy New Year Cake Topper

I am including a digital cut file for you to use. If you have an electronic die-cut machine, you can download the SVG file HERE. If you would prefer to cut it out by hand with an X-Acto knife, just grab the image HERE instead.

Gather Your Supplies

If you decide to cut it by hand it’s obviously going to take a little longer, but I promise it’s not bad. I would suggest using a heavy cardstock whichever way you choose to go.

Cut the Cardstock

To make your happy new year cake topper like mine, you need to gather a few supplies first. I used two white sucker sticks, a few embellishments, a hot glue gun, heavy glitter, cardstock, and my Cricut machine to cut the file.

If you are cutting the SVG file like I did, just upload the SVG to your electronic die-cut machine following the instructions they provide. Be sure to adjust your settings to accommodate a heavyweight glitter paper.

Glue the Sticks

After you have cut your image, flip it over and glue the two sucker sticks to each side. Be sure to leave enough space vertically to insert the stick into your cake.

Add the Embellishments

This is the last step! Embellish your decoration with flowers, ephemera, embellishments . . . whatever you have on hand. You can use tassels or pom poms too.

That’s it! So easy. I think my kids are going to LOVE it! Either make yourself a delicious cake or pop it into a store bought creation. No one is going to judge you. They’ll be too taken with your glittery topper.

And of course they will like having delicious cake no matter what it is. 😉 Happiest of holidays everyone, and a very happy New Year to all!
