Looking for a cute and quirky gift wrapping idea? Hi! It’s Leslie from Pink Stripey Socks and I’m seriously IN LOVE with today’s butterfly craft. Our friend recently held a birthday-themed party for her daughter.

I was so inspired by the theme that I incorporated butterflies into my gift wrapping too. Voila! Butterfly cutout DIY wrapping paper! I’m going to show you how this paper craft is done below.

Let’s make butterfly cutout wrapping paper!

Gift wrapped in pink tissue paper and additional orange paper with a pair of scissors and tape

Step 1: Wrap your gift in colorful tissue paper. (I taped on additional strips of orange tissue paper so that my butterfly wings would look more colorful!)

Step 2: Cut out a sheet of wrapping paper to wrap your gift.

Step 3: Using a craft knife, cut out your butterfly wings. (Remember, you’re only cutting out one wing. You’ll fold back the wing to create a pair of wings.) Vary the size of your butterfly wings to make a more interesting design.

Once you’re finished cutting out your wings, slightly fold them back to make sure that you cut cleanly though the wrapping paper.

Step 4: Wrap your gift. Then, fold back your butterfly wings to reveal your beautiful fluttering butterflies! Use a Sharpie marker to add antenna.
