DIY Deer Head Silhouette Canvas with Fabric Tape

Woodland creatures are always popular in crafting! Create a unique deer head silhouette canvas using fabric Duck Tape and Mod Podge.

So here’s the deal – if you give me any kind of challenge with Duck Tape, I’m going to take it. I absolutely love the stuff!

And recently, a new collection of their craft tapes was released – fabric, glitter, prism and washi tapes, all fantastic for any sort of handmade items.

I got the opportunity to try the Duck Tape Fabric tape and I was all over it. I especially loved this roll of stripes:

Many of you know that I’m a stripe gal. I had a lot of ideas of what to make with the tape, but there was one of the Duck Tape crafts in my head that I really wanted to do with these stripes – a deer head silhouette canvas.

I love deer heads and I’m putting together a huge collection of deer head crafts/canvases for my new studio. So this was perfect. It’s very easy to make; here’s how you do it.

Gather These Supplies

I really love these square gallery wrapped canvases. They have a little extra length on the sides, so they pop off of the wall a bit more. I get them whenever they are on sale (I also love square canvases).

Paint the canvas the color of your choice and let dry.

Tape the Duck Tape Fabric across a length of white paper. Print out the deer silhouette and tape down to the front.

Carefully cut out the deer silhouette using the scissors.

Mod Podge the silhouette down to the front of the canvas. Look at those fast hands!

Let the Mod Podge dry and then paint a few more coats of Mod Podge over the entire canvas.

Isn’t the finished piece lovely? The nice thing is that it’s Duck Tape, so you really don’t need another adhesive if you don’t want to use one.

These tapes can be used for all sorts of things – crafts, gifts, home decor . . . even taping up holes in shoes and clothing (I’ve done that before!).

I’d love to know what you think about my deer head silhouette in the comments! I’d also love for you to check out these other canvas posts:
