The most inexpensive way to make a DIY headband? With a lace applique! And Jacy shows you how to do it so you can reuse the lace.
Confession: I’ve had this pretty little applique sitting in my craft drawer for the longest time. Every time I cleaned the studio, I dreamed about using it but never knew on what.
It was something I wanted to use on the right project. In a short amount of time, I was able to temporary adorn it as a DIY headband while preserving the glue in case a better idea came along.
DIY Headband from Lace
Here’s what I used:
- One applique
- Plain black headband
- Needle & thread
Take the applique out of the package. Set the headband down and place the applique on top. Plan out how you want the design to face.
Turn headband and applique over. Using a needle and thread, secure the applique to the headband. You don’t want the thread to show so choose a color that will blend well.
Start sewing from the back of the applique so that the knots will be hidden. I secured it in three places.
Then slip it on and look fancy! The lace detail is so pretty and would make a great accessory for any event.
I had two weddings to attend this weekend so this might make an appearance. Now if only choosing an outfit was this easy.
