Neon Statement Necklace in a Few Easy Steps

Recently I was wandering the aisles of the grocery store and found myself so inspired by the water play/pool section. It’s the funnest section of the store, you guys. All the neon!

All the fun shapes of buckets and shovels and pool toys and floaties! It makes me happy. Just so bright and colorful.

So I decided to channel this love of neon and fun shapes into the cutest statement necklace that’s ever graced my neck. And it was SO easy to make this fashion craft. I’ll show you how.

Wood beads, scotch tape, acrylic paint, a paintbrush, and twine

DIY Statement Necklace

Supplies Needed:

Painting gel stain onto a wood bead with a paintbrush

1. I wanted my beads to have a high contrast against the paint so I decided to stain my beads before painting them. I used a basic gel stain that you can find amongst your craft paints at your craft supply store and just slapped it on the beads.

Painting blue acrylic paint onto wood beads with a paintbrush

2. Once the stain is dry paint your beads! I used tape to make straight lines and give the beads a dipped effect.

3. Let beads dry!
