Use old alphabet letters to make a cool faux metal sign in the saying of your choice. This is such an easy craft, and just requires a few steps!
So I’ve been holding onto them, wondering what I could use them for. Our half bathroom desperately needed some decor updating and this idea was born.
Faux Metal Sign
All you’ll need is:
- Canvas board
- Plastic alphabet letters and/or numbers
- Glue gun
- Spray paint
Set aside the letters and/or numbers for the phrase you want on the sign. Plan how they will lay out on the canvas board. I really didn’t care about this old painting so I was excited to cover it up with something cute. Then use the glue gun to secure them, allowing the glue to dry for a good 5-10 minutes.
In a well ventilated area, spray paint the entire sign. I used Rust-Oleum Metallic Gold and it came out great! Allow about an hour or two for the paint to properly dry and cure. If you want to hang the canvas board, just glue a piece of tied ribbon to the back.
You could easily personalize the signs for a kid’s room or master bedroom. Next time I might try two different color paints for a ombre effect.
