Ingredients

Bread

  • 3 cups old fashioned oats
  • 2 egg(s), large
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, roasted
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 T honey, optional

Topping

  • 1 T butter
  • 2-3 T maple syrup

Instructions

  1. First start by roasting your walnuts. Place them into the oven at 350'F for 8 minutes. Take out and let cool.
  2. Keep the oven on 350'F. Now grab a big bowl and let's get started.
  3. Add the oats, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, and baking powder into the bowl.
  4. In a separate bowl, add the milk, syrup, honey, and eggs and whisk together.
  5. Add the second mixture into the oats mixture and stir thoroughly.
  6. Once it is mixed well, pour into a 9 x 13 baking pan (greased or sprayed with cooking spray).
  7. Drizzle the maple syrup on top.
  8. Optional: add dabs of butter (about 1 tbsp) to the top of the loaf.
  9. Place in oven for about 45 minutes or until its golden brown on top. Take out and let cool.
  10. Add roasted walnuts to the top of the loaf when serving.

This recipe also doesn't state if the pan should be greased.

This is a difficult recipe to follow. Instructions say to add salt but it's not listed as an ingredient. Also, it doesn't say to add the toasted nuts. It says 4 T room temperature butter in the ingredients, but it doesn't say to add it in the instructions, other than "Optional add dabs of butter to top". It doesn't list any flour and is very watery. I have it ready to go in the oven. Sure hope this works.
