The start of summer has been really busy! We moved into a new house last August and it’s our first official “nice weather” here in the Pacific Northwest. Once we moved, we had about one month before the winter started – dark and rainy. We are finally enjoying the beauty that is our permanent home!
Now that warmer weather has come to the Northwest, everyone wants to visit and enjoy the summer and mountains (and our pleasant company, of course). For the past several weeks, we’ve been hosting various guests, and now we have more coming in another week. When we lived in Atlanta, our place was too small for visits, but now we have a guest room, so it’s been a parade.
And don’t get me wrong, I enjoy it – because I get to do fun tourist-y things like hiking amazing trails (picture above) and take the Portland Tram:
There’s something awesome about having people coming and going, but there’s also something awesome about having “me” time. I am so happy that – for a short period of time – I get to get back to my morning ritual.
Which, my morning ritual is very important to me! For me personally, it’s all about drinking coffee. Each morning I get up and the FIRST thing I do is let the dogs out and go to the coffee maker.
I use a Keurig with a reusable coffee pod and my favorite Dunkin’ Donuts coffee: which (depending on the day) is either Vanilla Cupcake or Chocolate Donut.
I always take my coffee out to the bag porch while the dogs are outside, and I always add my creamer. I’m a big fan these days of the Dunkin’ Donuts Coffee Creamers! It’s made with real cream and real sugar, which turns my coffee into a delicious morning treat. I look forward to it every single day. Once the creamer hits my coffee, I sit back and enjoy the weather (at least for the summer, anyway). It’s awesome to watch the dogs play outside and just listen to the peacefulness of being outside in the morning. The Dunkin’ Donuts Coffee Creamers are rich and delicious, and come in two new flavors: Vanilla Extra Extra and Caramel Extra Extra. They’re amazing! After I’m done sitting for about 15 – 20 minutes with the dogs, we come inside and I feed them. Then, with a week to myself, I’ve been working on craft projects for the blog! This past week I made some gnome houses out of terra cotta pots! It’s a project I’ve been wanting to do for awhile for the kids in our local park. It’s been so nice to take the time to finally do it!
Do you have summer guests coming? Don’t forget to take time to yourself – whether you go to a yoga class alone or just step outside for a moment with a morning coffee and creamer. Let me know how you unwind in the comments, especially when your house is busy during the summer.
