You don’t need any fancy artistic skills to make these easy mason jar gift tags – just get creative with watercolors and paper!
Lately I’ve been really getting into creating my own handmade gifts. Not only that, but wrapping them in a special way other than using store bought products. To create one of a kind watercolor mason jar gift tags for packages, you don’t need to be Picasso.
DIY Mason Jar Tags
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Watercolor paper or heavy cardstock
- Large glass jar of water
- Mason jar stencil – create using a stiff piece of cardboard and line art from the internet
- Hole Punch
- Ribbon or embroidery floss
The very first thing to do is fill the glass jar with warm to hot water. This will help keep the paint colors vibrant. Take a brush, dip it into the water and add some drops to colors you want to use.
Then I went back and added more bright colors like fuchsia and royal blue. Play around with different techniques and color combinations. I just swished the brush from left to right, going in a diagonal direction. The great thing about this project is it’s very hard to mess it up. It’s okay to be unique and different!
Then take a fine brush and a deeper color to go over it. If you’re not comfortable writing with a brush, a sharpie would do just fine.
Scribble a sweet note on the back with a pencil or pen, then attach to the gift. I’ll be using these when I ship out shop orders. My customers are going to love them!
