DIY Paper Sunflower

Make a sunflower using construction paper! This is a fun and easy summer or fall craft for kids.

  • Cut a big circle out of the yellow paper, a smaller circle from the brown, a long green rectangle, and several green leaf shapes.
    Cutting Shapes
  • Glue the brown circle to the center of the yellow circle. Using the black marker, draw a crosshatch pattern on the brown circle.
    Drawing Details
  • Cut through the yellow circle towards the center, stopping at the brown circle. Repeat this process every couple of inches to make the petals.
    Cutting Petals
  • Once all petals are cut, gently fold every other petal up slightly to give the flower dimension.
    Lifting Petals Up
  • Glue sunflower seeds to the brown circle.
    Gluing Sunflower Seeds
  • Glue the stem to the back of the sunflower, and then glue the leaves to the stem. Alternate sides when gluing the leaves.
