If you’re interested in trying jackfruit recipes, these curry burger patties are for you! They are the perfect substitute for red meat. So delicious!

Jackfruit is native to South and Southeast Asia, and it’s the largest tree-borne fruit in the world (it can weigh up to 80 pounds!).

Ingredients Green jackfruit Chickpea/Garbanzo Flour Red onions Ginger Cilantro Curry powder Paprika  Burger buns Salad greens

Instructions:

Boil the green jackfruit in enough water till fork tender. Drain the water and transfer to a food processor along with the chickpea/garbanzo flour, chopped onions, grated ginger, cilantro, curry powder, paprika (or chili powder), salt and black pepper, and a tablespoon of oil.

Take the patty mix out and place in a bowl. Add little more chickpea flour if the mix feels too sticky. Shape into patties (about 1/3 cup each) and chill for about 30 minutes in the fridge.

Heat 1 tbsp oil in a non-stick pan or cast iron skillet; fry the patties for about 2 to 3 minutes on each side. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain off excess oil.

Slather condiments on the bottom half of the burger bun; place the salad greens on top and then the patty. Add more salad greens if you wish. Cover with the top half of the burger bun. Enjoy!
