Are you ready to try this baked French toast? Here’s what you’re going to need.
Ingredients
- 20 oz sourdough bread (1 loaf)
- 8 eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup half and half
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 Tablespoons vanilla extract
Sourdough bread is commonly used in this recipe, but don’t be afraid to try French bread, brioche, or even challah.
For best results, leave the bread out and let get stale for one day before using. It soaks up the custard more easily.
Leftovers can be refrigerated up to three days, covered with plastic wrap. Reheat the casserole in your oven until warm in the center, or microwave individual servings.
