Whoever said “don’t fix what isn’t broken” clearly never tried tossing chocolate candies into brownie batter.

Welcome to my latest kitchen escapade, where I’m shaking up the classic fudge brownie with a colorful, candy-coated twist: M&M brownies!

First, let’s address the elephant in the room: why mess with the perfection of a gooey, rich brownie? Well, it’s because I can, and because it’s ridiculously fun (and tasty).

Imagine the fudgy, chocolatey goodness of your favorite brownie, now studded with the crunch and charm of M&Ms. It’s not just a dessert; it’s a chocolate party in your mouth.

This isn’t just a sprinkle-and-bake affair. We’re talking about a carefully crafted recipe where the M&Ms aren’t just an ingredient; they’re integral to the brownie’s identity.

They bring their A-game, adding pops of color and bursts of crunchy texture to every bite. It’s a match made in heaven, like peanut butter and jelly, but way more chocolatey and, dare I say, more fun.

And let’s not forget the versatility of this recipe. Got a birthday party? M&M brownies. Need a pick-me-up? M&M brownies. Want to impress your coworkers at the next office potluck? You guessed it – M&M brownies.

They’re the Swiss Army knife of desserts, ready to swoop in and save any culinary occasion. EVERYONE loves them!

Tips for Making the Best Brownies

Before you dive into this recipe, I’ve got some tips for you on making the best (and tastiest) brownies. If you’re interested, check them out. Otherwise scroll to the bottom.

Use Quality Ingredients

Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor and texture. You’ll for sure want to get fresh eggs, good quality butter, and pure vanilla extract (instead of imitation).

You should choose high-quality chocolate chips and cocoa powder for the best flavor. If you like dark chocolate, chips with at least 60% cocoa content is recommended.

Measure Precisely

Flour is often the main dry ingredient in brownies. Measure using the scoop-and-level method, as adding too much flour can result in dry baked goods.

Bring Cold Ingredients to Room Temp

Bring ingredients like butter, eggs, and milk to room temperature before mixing. They will incorporate better, resulting in smoother batter and softer brownies. They don’t need to be warm; slightly cool to room temp is fine.

Avoid Overmixing

Mix the batter just until ingredients are combined, or the dry disappears into the wet. Overmixing can result in tough baked goods.

Choose the Right Pan

Use a light-colored metal or glass baking pan. Dark-colored pans can cause the brownies to bake unevenly or become too crisp on the edges.

Test for Doneness

They should be slightly underbaked when you remove them from the oven. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out with a few moist crumbs clinging to it.

Allow to Cool in the Pan

Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. This helps them set and develop their texture.
