Beijinhos are Brazilian coconut truffles that are incredibly easy to make – they only take four ingredients, and are amazingly sweet and delicious!
I just moved to a new neighborhood where we were greeted by the cutest Brazilian family that lives across the street. Friendly neighbors make all the difference when you move somewhere new, right?!
I wanted to share the love and do something nice for them over the weekend, so I looked on Pinterest and found these little sweets called Beijinhos. Beijinhos are Brazilian coconut truffles, and are made with some of my favorite things.
They are incredibly easy to make, only take four ingredients, and turned out to be so delicious! You will want to make this recipe for anyone who needs to feel a little love . . . including yourself!
Ingredients
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup of shredded coconut (smaller, finer shreds are better)
- 1 T butter
- 1/2 tsp of coconut extract (if desired; you can also use vanilla extract)
Once you roll the beijinhos in coconut, they are ready to put in a container immediately for gifting. In terms of storing, keep them in the fridge in an airtight container for up to a week.
For the record, the wrappers are called bonbon wrappers. I had to look it up.
They can be frozen for up to a month. To thaw, leave them in the fridge overnight so they can defrost. You can also leave them out on the counter, but consume them when they are still cool.
How cute are these? And they taste basically like the inside of an Almond Joy, or a little macaroon ball. SO YUM.
These are perfect for a birthday party, graduation, baby shower, cookie exchange, or any time you need a single serve situation.
And can you imagine the possibilities? Dip in chocolate, roll in sprinkles, put something inside (an almond, a berry, a piece of chocolate). These are so fun!

Beijinhos de Coco
Ingredients
- 14 oz sweetened condensed milk 1 can
- 1 cup shredded coconut finely shredded
- 1 T butter
- 1/2 teaspoon coconut extract optional
Instructions
- In a medium, non-stick saucepan, mix the sweetened condensed milk, 1/2 of the coconut, and butter over medium heat. Set the other 1/2 of the coconut aside.
- Stirring constantly, heat the mixture to a boil and reduce heat to medium. Continue to stir for 10-12 minutes, or until the mixture is thick enough when you stir that you can see the bottom of the pan for 1-2 seconds before it levels out.
- Remove the mixture from heat and stir in the extract.
- Pour mixture onto a greased plate and let cool to room temperature.
- Once cooled, roll into balls with greased hands. Use a smaller spoon to make the right size.
- Roll the balls in the remainder of the shredded coconut.
- Place in bonbon wrappers and then add to a gift container.

Have these been tried using sweetened canned coconut cream? I cannot have the dairy but these sound really good.
