Easy Cherry Vodka Sour with Mint & Blueberry

Combine the delicious flavors of mint and blueberry in this unique cherry vodka sour recipe! So easy to make and so refreshing.

Cherry Vodka Sour with Mint & Blueberry

I’ll never forget when I had my first mojito; I was surprised to find how much I liked mint in an alcoholic beverage. So when it came to making this cherry vodka sour, I knew that mint needed to be a part of it – to kick things up a notch!

How to Make a Vodka Sour

Vodka sours are my go-to when the weather gets warm, and I can’t wait to show you how to make this cherry sour. This is a perfect summer cocktail recipe but it’s also one that you can enjoy all year. At least I enjoy it all year . . .

What’s in a Vodka Sour?

There are all sorts of cocktail recipes, but I have to say that sours are typically my favorite. If you’re wondering what’s in a sour, it’s a base liquor, lemon or lime juice, and then a sweetener (like triple sec or simple syrup).

In this recipe, the lemon juice is already together with the sweetener in the sour mix. I like the Powell & Mahoney brand because they use all natural ingredients and I don’t get any fake aftertaste in my cocktails.

Measure Twice, Pour Once

In your quest to make the perfect sour recipe, be sure to measure everything. It’s easy to throw off the flavor of a sour by adding too much of this or that.

I highly recommend a jigger – I personally like this mini measuring glass because it goes up to 4 ounces. I’m not typically a measuring kind of gal, but when it comes to cocktails and getting the right flavor, I always measure.

No Egg Whites

This sour recipe doesn’t have any egg white. Given that it’s a spring recipe, it feels more light and refreshing without it.

If you want to go the more traditional route, you can try our cherry whiskey sour recipe (which has egg white cream on top) or our orange whiskey sour recipe (which has egg white in the drink as well as on top).

Sometimes I’m just not in the mood for egg white in my beverages and that’s when this comes into play.

This sour also comes into play when I’m having a spring get together and I need an easy cocktail recipe that everyone is going to love. This one works, every single time.

Cherry Vodka Sour Ingredients

Vodka Sour Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon of fresh blueberries
  • 2 ounces Reyka Vodka
  • 2 ounces Powell & Mahoney Lemon Sour Mix
  • 3 ounces R. W. Knudsen Just Tart Cherry Juice
  • Fresh Sprigs of Mint
  • Crushed Ice

Directions:

  1. In a cocktail shaker muddle two fresh mint leaves and 4 – 5 blueberries using a muddler. If you need instruction on how to use the muddler, I love this article. You just want to release the mint flavor without over-crushing the leaves.
  2. Add vodka, lemon sour mix, Just Tart Cherry juice, and top with crushed ice.
  3. Secure the cocktail shaker lid and shake vigorously for 30 seconds.
  4. Strain into a standard whiskey glass filled with crushed ice.
  5. Add a fresh sprig of mint and garnish with several blueberries. Serve.
