I’ve heard it described as tasting like rice pudding, finely blended – sweet with a cinnamon flavor.
That’s a pretty good description. It’s really tasty.
It comes in many varieties, and you can combine it with delicious flavors to make a tasty alcoholic horchata drink for fall or winter, just like this one!
Horchata Drink Recipe
Meet our bourbon and dark chocolate “boozy” horchata recipe. And it’s THAT GOOD.

It’s a warm beverage and filled with creamy, cocoa-y amazingness. You’re going to want to make this horchata drink for breakfast or as a nightcap.
But let’s face it . . . you can have it any time. This horchata is a perfect party beverage as well. Learn how to make it below!

Ingredients:
- 2 oz. Califia Farms Horchata (or similar)
- 1 oz. Heavy Whipping Cream
- 1 1/2 tbsp Dark Chocolate Sauce
- 0.5 oz Coffee Liqueur
- 1 oz. Elijah Craig Bourbon
- Dollop of Cool Whip
- Dust of cocoa powder
Directions:
- Place a saucepan over medium heat, add horchata, heavy whipping cream, and dark chocolate sauce; mix well.
- When mixture begins to steam, remove from heat.
- Into a serving glass, mix coffee liqueur and bourbon.
- Pour warm horchata and dark chocolate mixture over the bourbon and coffee liqueur.
- Add a dollop of Cool Whip and dust with cocoa powder.
- Serve.
