This isn’t just any cocktail; it’s a botanical journey that brings together the tangy zest of citrus, the delicate floral notes of hibiscus, and the crisp kick of gin.

Tips for Making Delicious Cocktails
Making great cocktails is an art that combines creativity, technique, and attention to detail. Here are some tips to help you craft exceptional drinks.
Start with Quality Ingredients
Use high-quality spirits (I recommend Sipsmith) and fresh juices. The quality of your ingredients greatly influences the final taste of your cocktail.
Measure Precisely
Invest in a jigger or measuring tools to ensure accurate proportions. Consistency in measurements is key to achieving a balanced flavor profile.
Chill Your Glassware
Pre-chill your glassware in the freezer or fill them with ice while preparing the cocktail to keep your drinks cold and refreshing.
Taste as You Go
Don’t be afraid to taste your cocktail-in-progress. Adjust ingredients if needed to achieve the desired flavor. I mean you don’t need to be told to do this . . . right?
Remember that making cocktails is both a science and an art, so don’t be afraid to get creative and have fun with your creations. Over time, you’ll develop your own signature cocktails and techniques!
Here’s what you’re going to need to make this hibiscus gin cocktail.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 oz of hibiscus syrup (see below to make it yourself)
- 1 1/2 oz of gin – I recommend Sipsmith
- 1/2 oz of freshly squeezed orange juice
- 1/2 oz lime juice
- 1/2 oz Campari
- 1 egg white from a small egg
Hibiscus Syrup
(enough for 2 – 3 oz depending on how long you let it boil and how much it thickens)
- 1/2 cup of hibiscus flowers
- 1/3 cup of water
- 1/3 cup of cane sugar
- In a small saucepan, place the sugar, water and hibiscus flowers. Mix and place on low to medium heat for about 5 minutes or until you notice that it has thickened and you cannot see any sugar left.
- Turn off the heat, and set aside. Let it cool to room temperature before using.
Note: if you would like to use pasteurized egg, you can purchase egg whites at the store. It tends to create a rockier foam, but a lot of people can’t tell the difference.
