This raspberry lemonade margarita recipe always gets compliments! This frozen drink is the perfect amount of sweet and tart. If you’re craving a homemade margarita, this one is so refreshing and perfect for summer!
Summer isn’t over, my friends. I don’t know what the weather’s like where you are, but here it’s going to be in the 90s this week! Hot weather calls for some refreshing summer beverages.
I have a delicious raspberry lemonade margarita recipe that is going to quench your thirst, and you MAY even want to make when the summer is over. I won’t judge if you do.
Tips for Making Margaritas
I absolutely love straight margaritas on the rocks, but occasionally I like indulging in a yummy frozen margarita in a mason jar. Something about the frostiness combined with the sweetness of the raspberry and the tart of the lemonade . . . it’s absolutely perfect.
You’ll make this margarita recipe, sit on your front porch, and watch your neighbors from your rocking chair with a beverage in hand. See the picture I painted for you?
What do you Need to Make a Homemade Margarita?
Homemade margaritas are SO simple to make and that’s what I love about them! You need only three things: tequila, juice (typically lime juice), and some kind of triple sec (which is a flavored liqueur used for sweetening).
This homemade margarita recipe is a little different but the idea is the same. You’re going to use tequila, raspberry lemonade (your juice), and then limeade concentrate (your triple sec substitute).
There’s enough tequila in these homemade margaritas so you don’t have to worry about the strength from not using triple sec. These are plenty strong!
Salt the Rim, Don’t Overblend
These homemade margaritas are super easy to make, but two things I wanted to mention. First, If you want something around the rim, they go better with sugar than salt (or at least a salt sugar mixture). I don’t personally think the rims need anything, but I’ll let you choose.
My only other tip would be to avoid overblending your margarita. I suppose everyone has their own preferences, but if you’re drinking this in warm weather, you want to keep it relatively frozen when it’s first made. Blend until everything is just mixed and the ice is chopped up.
Picking the Right Tequila
Pick any tequila you like for this beverage, but depending on what I’m making I like to strike a balance between value and taste. This particular frozen margarita recipe, because of all the sweetness, works with just about anything.
I picked Jose Cuervo Especial Gold tequila for these homemade margaritas . . . but if you want to select something a bit more top shelf, go for it!
For Big Crowds
These homemade margaritas can be doubled, tripled, etc. and are perfect for parties. Make them in your blender in batches.
You can serve in a glass pitcher. Be sure to keep the pitcher on ice, especially when you’re serving this outside.
