Learn how to make 4th of July party favors out of recycled materials – and they’re shaped like rockets! Just add red, white, and blue candy.
Skills Required: Beginner. Even if you’ve never crafted before, these are pretty easy to make!
If you are having an Independence Day party, these 4th of July party favors will take your celebration to the next level! You won’t believe what they’re made of – something I found in the recycle bin (because who doesn’t like free?).
Yes – my favorite part of these favors is that they use recycled toilet paper tubes for the base . . . so you’re saving money on supplies while creating cute favors!
I was able to create these rockets using items I already had on hand, so I didn’t spend anything to make them. Guests will love tearing off the end of the rocket to find sweet treats – or anything else you’d love to tuck inside.
They are the perfect craft for children and adults to make together, and you can adapt them to other types of celebrations (like a superhero party!).
I hope you have a “blast” creating!
Fourth of July Party Favors
Gather These Supplies
- Cardboard tubes
- Rocket top template
- Patriotic themed scrapbook paper – thin is better
- Red and blue cardstock
- Tissue paper
- Baker’s twine or ribbon
- Double stick tape or a tape runner
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Ruler
- Glue Dots (optional)
Step One
Place the Fourth of July themed scrapbook paper face down on your work surface. Measure the toilet paper tubes and mark the cuts you’ll make on each end with a pencil.
Step Two
Draw straight lines through both pencil marks; this is so the square you will cut will be even and fit around your tube exactly.
Step Three
Cut the scrapbook paper to fit the toilet paper tube using your scissors. I recommend using a variety of paper patterns for each of your 4th of July party favors just to make them fun!
Step Four
Place a line of double stick tape or a tape runner down your cardboard tube. I noticed that all cardboard tubes are not created equally; the tape runner worked best on mine!
Step Five
Wrap your paper around the tube and secure with more adhesive or tape.
Step Six
Cut a piece of tissue paper to fit inside the base of your cardboard tube. Use double stick tape or glue dots to secure the tissue paper.
Step Seven
Use baker’s twine to secure the tail. Tie a bow. Cut fringe in the tissue paper.
Step Eight
Use the template included to cut your rocket toppers.
Step Nine
Fold your rocket toppers and hot glue them. Insert the candy into the cardboard tube and hot glue the topper to the top of the tube.
Guests will pull off the rocket tails to enjoy their treats!
